The twenty-two-year anniversary was not only a reason for a pleased look back and the possibility to highlight what has been achieved. It was also an assignment for content-related development and for considering the current social conditions.
Migration and escape are current and global subjects which pop up everywhere in this world and which are dealt with differently by society and politics. Human rights, democracy and sustainable social-ecological responsibility are on the international agenda und are inseparably connected to the subjects above.
On this background a symposium, which focuses on the future of migration, took place on 4th November 2009. Maga. Anna Spinka und Dr. Bernhard Perchinig spoke about possible developments of subjects like immigration and integration.
The soirée on 27th November 2009 with approx. 200 attending guests was the official highlight of ZEBRA's anniversary celebrations. In the afternoon there was the possibility to get one "Artbox 22 years ZEBRA". These boxes contain 10 artworks of the 10 artists. There is a limited Edition of ten exemplares.
After the soirée there will be the exhibition in the rooms of < rotor >, where the artworks emerged in 2009 will be presentated. The exhibition continues from January 7 to February 13 2010 and is open from Monday to Friday from 10 am. to 6 pm. Free entrance.

In May/June 2009, ZEBRA hosted a series of seminars on "Empowerment and Grass Root Strategies". These keywords represent an essential core of our work.
Only when people are able to represent their own interests and needs, they are given an opportunity to be heard and to participate. This is an important basis for anti-racist and anti-discrimination structures.
International speakers from India and Sweden were invited to Graz to talk about their committed work in these places concerning human rights and their caring activities under very diverse circumstances.
